Giant Redwoods - April 2017
Thanks to Peggy for sending more Redwood sightings and locations that have not yet been included on Redwood World.

Peggy wrote; "What a day we had today exploring the Carse of Gowrie between Perth and Dundee. We found three sites, the Patrick Matthew redwoods (two of them) at Megginch Castle, then one at the site of his (now gone) Gourdiehill house; and an unexpected row of redwoods at Errol Park. The co-ordinates are: N56 23.338 W003 13.822. In the western end of that park along what may have once been the main entrance, is a row of 31 Sequoiadendron giganteum. The Park's website says they were planted in 1815 to commemorate Wellington’s victory at Waterloo, but since seeds of this species did not arrive in Scotland until 1853, the former name “Wellingtonia” for the tree may have brought about a confusion of dates."
