Ambleside - Wray Castle (Cumbria)

Coast Redwood - August 2016

Thanks to Steve who sent these photographs of two redwood trees in the grounds of Wray Castle, Ambleside. The superb picture above shows the Coast Redwood trunk really well, with the typical bark formation clearly visible, and the comparison with the people showing the huge girth.

Giant Redwood - August 2016

Thanks to Stephen for sending us the following update; "There are actually at least three at Wray Castle, Ambleside. Two are together, of these two, one is a Giant Sequoia and one is a Coastal Redwood. I believe the Sequoia is dying. These two are very close to the Castle, near the coffee shop. The other one I found was very close to the road going out, but I do not think it was the one labelled “Giant Redwood—August 2016” at the bottom of this page, as that looks to be sort of in a clearing, and it isn’t the one that appeared to be dying near the coastal redwood mentioned above."
