Thanks to Denise & Chris for this photograph of a Giant Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum) in a field in Weobley, and for directions to its location. "Take the B4230 into Weobley off the A480 from Credenhill (which, by the way, is the location of the SAS barracks!) on the North West side of Hereford. About 2 miles along the B4230 is a lodge on the right hand side which used to be the entrance to Garnstone Castle. If you walk up any of the tracks near to this lodge you will see the avenue of Wellingtonias. The single tree is between Home Farm and Garden Cottage. The photo I took of the avenue of trees in the distance was taken standing by the lone tree." A good example of a Giant Redwood with its lower limbs left intact, as nature intended. |
