Lewis wrote about his discovery of Giant Redwoods in Rutland.

"I've visited your website a few times over the years as I've wanted to learn as much as possible about these great trees. By happy accident I stumbled upon some young giant redwoods when waking through The Uppingham School aboretum on a family walk yesterday. There were several of this size but in another part of the aboretum was a larger tree that I was unsure whether it was a redwood or not. I was hoping you could identify it. "

Thank you for letting me know about the Giant Redwoods in the Uppingham School aboretum, the tree in the second photograph has the classic shape of an older Giant Redwood tree (Sequoiadenron giganteum), and it's great to hear they have planted some younger ones too, at a guess possibly around fifteen to twenty years ago.
