Giant Redwood
John sent the above photograph of a Giant Redwood in Scorton village in 2017. The motor bike next to it really shows the immense size of these trees and yet they are still relatively very young. He said "There are 3 specimens in the village of Scorton itself which are in a cul de sac called Scorton Hall Park, which was the gatehouse to Wyresdale park but is now separated from the grounds when the M6 was constructed"

John saw more Redwoods in the nearby Wyresdale Park. He said, "The trees in Wyresdale Park itself are not in solitary majesty but crammed in with overgrown trees but some thinning is being done recently. In the last few years they have introduced a cafe, which is very pleasant with tables in a converted conservatory and when the weather is good many outdoor tables & benches. In this area there are some lovely mature trees including a very large Magnolia against the house."
