Phil first wrote in August 2019 to tell us about his own Redwood plantings by his daughter and son in the 1970's in Northop, Flintshire, North Wales. The seeds were purchased from Barilli and Biagi, Bologna, Italy. Location Northop College 69.00N 30.085W. "The Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is multi-stemmed and the central stem is now becoming dominant after a hesitant start." Phil also planted two non-Redwood trees at Northop College in 1976/77: 1. Swamp Cypress Taxodium distichum Height: 40ft Girth (at breast height): 5ft in 2020 2. Japanese Cypress Cryptomeria japonica Height: 50ft Girth (at breast height): 5ft in 2020 Phil's son kindly supplied the following measurements in the table. |
