It is quite unusual to see a cluster of Giant Redwoods planted by a local authority, but Harlow Council have certainly excelled in this respect. On Southern Way there are no less than eight young Wellingtonia planted on the grass verge, three on one side of the road and five on the other, a little further down. Sadly, one of the five has incurred some damage at some stage and obviously lost its upper section. At the moment it resembles more of a large bush than a tree! It seems quite healthy, however, and is now sending up other branches - one in particular seems to be tryng to become the new leader. Most of this group of five trees have cones growing at their tops despite their youth.
