Giant Redwood - January 2008

Thanks to Tam for these photographs of a Giant Redwood in Hairmyres Hospital. Tam says "driving past Hairmyres Hospital I was stunned to find another Giant Sequoia. It is only one mile from my house and am amazed yet again that another nice tree has turned up in E.K." Congratulations on another find Tam. It is astonishing to find a Redwood close to home when you think you have already discovered all those nearby!

Iain wrote to say that he, "noticed today that the Redwood tree at Hairmyres hospital Lanarkshire has been felled with the other mature trees and a housing estate is being built there." Thanks for letting us know Iain, it's always sad to hear when yet more local amenity is lost just to make a little more profit for the property developers. I'm surprised the Redwood didn't have a tree preservation order on it.
