Thanks to Scott who told us that "there are a few in the grounds of Dalkeith Country Park in Dalkeith, near Edinburgh. I spotted only 2 Giant Sequoia and 1 Coast Redwood but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more as they are scattered throughout the extensive grounds of Dalkeith Palace. The woodland seems mainly native species but there are quite a few firs, cedars and spruces spread throughout the very pleasant woodland walks. Dalkeith Palace dates back to the 12th century although the present building dates from 1702, and since 1642 has been the main ancestral residence of the Dukes of Buccleuch (pronounced 'Buccloo'), the current duke being the largest private landowner in the UK." |
