Thanks to Christine who has found another avenue in Fife, this time at Dunimarle Castle. She wrote; "This Avenue of 40 trees is in the beautiful historic 'time capsule' village of Cuross facing the Firth of Forth, which we have visited quite regularly. However on Sunday we went up to Dunimarle Castle, where we have never ventured before. At Dunimarle Castle there are 40 Redwoods on what we think was probably the main Driveway in Victorian times. I've never seen such a lot of Redwoods all together. One of them looks like it's been damaged, but other trees are growing out of it." "You have on your website "House of Dun" in Montrose, Angus, where there is an Avenue of Redwoods. We went there a few weeks ago and I would like to say that these trees have the largest girth I've seen and are really splendid. We were informed by a member of staff that a few days before our visit the House had been closed as Prince Charles was visiting. The Redwoods did look very 'clean' round the root system, as if they'd just been smartened up for the Royal visit. I'm sure Prince Charles must have admired these trees too." |

It's good to have the details of this avenue displayed on the board; it was originally one mile long; contained both Giant Redwood and Monkey Puzzle trees; and that it was planted by gardener Jasper Wallace. |
