Peggy sent the above photographs of "redwoods at Elmwood House, Carslogie Road, Cupar. N56 19'5.61 W3 01'48.45

In the front garden of Elmwood College (on the grounds of Hope Park House) there are three large Sierra Redwoods which appear to be from the 1860's and 1970's era during which they were popular in Scotland at the grand houses. The garden's well has a date of 1871. In addition to the Sierra Redwoods are two Dawn Redwoods planted along the west side of the college's main building. Near the Sierra Redwoods is a smaller one which appears to be about ten years old.

Peter Robinson wrote in October 2011 to say "On your web-site it mentions a small redwood growing in the grounds of Elmwood College, in addition to three larger ones. I gifted the small wellingtonia to the college in July, 2003, when I took early retirement. I had worked at the college for many years and was concerned at the lack of replacement planting." Peter said that it was a further two years before it was planted but it now appears to be growing well.
