Craigdarroch - B729 (Dumfriesshire)

Giant Redwoods - September 2007

Another good find in Dumfries and Galloway by Tam. These two Giant Redwoods are "on the B729 minor road leading from Moniaive. The trees themselves were by the gatehouse at Craigdarroch." The split in one of these trees is interesting because it starts fairly low down the trunk. Although not an uncommon feature in the Coast Redwood, it is rather rare on the Giant Redwood.
