Thanks to Helen who discovered this Giant Redwood in Marian Gardens. She explained "This tree is located in the grounds of the former St Joseph's Convent in the newly created Marian Gardens development off Plaistow Lane. This development has transformed the Grade II listed convent into a gated community of private residences with communal grounds.

The tree is of the right general shape and is one of four trees of assorted varieties planted together between the buildings and the road. One of the others is the distinctive Araucaria monkey puzzle tree. It does not have a specific Tree Preservation Order documented, but appears to fall within the area including the new Marian Gardens development which is the subject of a blanket TPO of over twenty years standing.

After hearing of so many trees being taken out lately for "development", it's really good to see this tree (and the others)
were left in place to make features in the newly created gardens.
