Brodick - Brodick Castle (Ayrshire)

Thanks to Chris who wrote to say "I saw this very tall slender Wellingtonia in the grounds of Brodick Castle a National Trust Scotland property in Ayrshire on the Isle of Arran. I have stitched two photos together to get the full height. I estimate it is about 35 metres high and 4.5 metres girth. The grounds were laid out in the late 1840's and include the Wellingtonia plus a Bavarian summerhouse built for Princess Marie of Baden, who moved to Brodick shortly after her marriage in 1843. She became Duchess of Hamilton in 1852. It is understood that the summerhouse was built to remind her of her childhood home in Bavaria." An unusual solution to fitting the whole of a Giant Redwood into one photograph!
