Thanks to Kate for sending the above photograph of another avenue of Giant Sequioas in Berkshire. Kate says, "I came across your site while searching for information on the history of the Redwoods on Wellingtonia Avenue at Finchamstead, as we went walking there during the holidays. Just around the corner from where I work, there's a similar, much shorter avenue of trees, which I guess are also Redwoods. It's Kennel Avenue, North Ascot, Berkshire. I often like walking beside them in my lunch-break; they seem to instantly give a better perspective on whatever's going on in the day." It was difficult to say for sure from the photograph that they are Redwoods as the snow obscures the tell tale characteristics. I looked on Google Maps (street view) where I was able to see them without the snow, and their shape confirms that they are Giant Redwoods, just as you thought. I can understand about your lunchtime walk beside them putting things into perspective. |
