Larry wrote to say he has been reading the Redwood World website over the last year and has become more confident at recognising Redwoods. He found this one at "Stambourne Woods, off Auckland road, nr Crystal Palace (London Borough of Croydon). It is definitely a coast redwood, labelled and part of a tree trail. I have not been able to find the Dawn redwood which the tree trail says is also there. It was difficult to take a clear photo as it was amongst other mature trees. Stambourne Woods is a little wood to the south west of Crystal Palace railway station." Thanks Larry, don't give up on the search for the Dawn Redwood, you'll probably have more luck in the Spring/Summer because it will then have foliage, on your visit in the Winter it would have been rather bald (unlike the Coast Redwood).
