Thanks to Andrea who sent these photographs of a tree near to her which she believed could be a Redwood. Yes, your tree is a Giant Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum - or Wellingtonia). In fact your photographs show another tree in the background that might also be a Redwood, although it's difficult to say for certain from a distance. Andrea wrote again a few weeks later to say; "I took a couple of pictures of the Redwood in the sunshine!"
