North Cove - The Street (Suffolk) |
Thanks to Duane for sending these photographs of two Giant Sequoia that were "spotted by my oldest daughter on The Street, North Cove in the front gardens across the road from each other. The healthier of the two trees I estimate as having a height of 20 meters and the second I estimate at 25-28 meters high. The second tree has some damage leading down from the top possibly due to lighting, plus a large split at the base of the tree. Elevation 46 feet N52.4423 E1.63517 " The split could be the outer layers of bark blown away by a lightning strike. Hopefully the tree will be fine, it's not a great thing to happen but we have seen plenty of Redwoods with evidence of this having happened decades earlier and the tree still in perfectly good health. |
