Melrose - Waverley Castle (Roxburghshire) |

Tam says he also "found another four Giant Sequoias in the grounds of the Waverley Castle Hotel in Melrose. What a day!" Tam found information about the Hotel on the (now defunt) Scottish Walks web site: "Built as a Hydropathic Hotel, and officially opened in 1871, the grounds extended to some 38 acres. It was a pioneering build, being perhaps the earliest mass concrete building in Scotland". Thank you for your finds in the Borders, Tam. It is a shame that the blue skies a couple of months ago have been replaced with clouds, but the trees must love the rain. |
