Lochluichart - Lochluichart Lodge (Ross & Cromarty) |
Giant Redwoods - June 2007 |
Tam wrote to say that "The first of three finds on this stretch of road leading to the Northwest Highlands was at Lochluichart Lodge there are approximately six trees here on the south side of the A832 and two on the north side. Three Giant Sequoias rise up in front on approaching the sign for Lochluichart. The loch itself lies just west of Garve it is app seven kilometres long and drains into the River Conon it is fed from Strath Bran, alongside the Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness railway. The lodge itself is in a private estate and it was only possible to photograph from a distance. The large fir and Sequoias can be seen from opposite ends in these two photos on close inspection." These are great Tam, they certainly stand out, the top picture particularly shows that classic "rocket" shape we have come to know and love. |
