Great Harrowden - Wellingborough Golf Club (Northamptonshire) |
Thanks to Jason for the above photographs of Redwoods at Wellingborough Golf Club. Jason wrote last year to say, "For the last number of years I have been holding a client golf day at Wellingborough Golf Club. It’s a stunning location and the only golf course locally that happens to have a stunning Wellingtonia on the first tee! I have often given away as prizes Seed Kits and Saplings explaining that it’s the ‘biggest’ prize they will ever receive! I have also donated saplings to the club for their “under planting programme” Wellingborough have several redwood trees, including sadly a huge stump of one that was taken out by lightning, they have however created a beautiful feature of the remaining trunk. The debris spread for some distance apparently and was a ‘big’ talking point locally."" Jason went on to explain that he had been asked to sponsor the Wellingtonia with a display board giving an explanation of the origin and history of THE GIANT REDWOOD. Congratulations on your board Jason. It says all the main points about the trees in an interesting and highly readable manner. I would not know where to start in designing such a display! |
