Scott wrote to say "I spotted 4 Giant Sequoia in Pittencrief Park in Dunfermline, Fife. One of which is a wee bit squint. Dunfermline is one of the ancient seats of the Scottish Kings and Pittencrief Park is home to the ruins of the castle of Malcolm Canmore ( 'Ceann Mor' - 'Big Chief') who was King of Scotland from 1058 - 1093. The estate which comprises the park was bought by Andrew Carnegie, Dunfermline born American Industrialist and Philanthropist who apparently is one of the richest people ever, in 1902 and gifted to the people of Dunfermline in 1903. Thanks for all your finds Scott, the wobbly one does look a little bizzare, and the extra information is always interesting to add to the web page. |
