Corrimony - RSPB Reserve (Inverness-shire) |
Giant Redwoods - August 2009 |
Thanks to Peggy for sending these photographs taken in Corrimony. Peggy says; "I was up in Corrimony, the RSPB reserve off of Glen Urquhart this weekend. While driving up the dirt road into the reserve we noted five HUGE Sequoiadendrons, four lining the road along with beeches and Douglas Fir, and one out in a field. These trees appear to be among those planted on the old estates in Scotland, and although we didn't locate the old estate house, we did find a large foundation to which the line of trees led. The kirk and burial ground are there along the entry road, as well as a 4000 year old chambered cairn. Coordinates for the trees are N 57 20.297 W 004 29.262" I have also included Peggy's photograph of the Cairn below. |
