Giant Redwood - October 2022 |
Thanks to Jim who wrote that he; "came across this Giant redwood when cycling on Arran. It is close, but not in the Broddick Castle estate which has a famous collection of camellias and rhododendrons and is owned by the National Trust and benefits from a milder climate due to the Gulf Stream. I would have liked to call in at the house to ask if they knew the history of the tree but didn't have time. The map ref is 55.643, -5.139 which is the village of Corrie." A good find Jim! While I was searching for this tree on Google maps, southward from your co-ordinates, I saw another Giant Redwood along the A481. It stands at the roadside of the property and the owners have accomodated its growth by creating an arc in the fence. Very sensible in my opinion. |
