Tree No. 1 - Giant Redwood - February 2021 - 7.11metres girth
Aidan sent another set of photographs and measurements of Redwoods, this time at Ramster Gardens, Chiddingford.
What a superb photograph of Tree No. 1, it really illustrates the scale of these trees; all the more remarkable for the fact that these are still just youngsters.

Tree No. 2 - Giant Redwood - February 2021
Aidan wrote; "Trees 1 and 2 are a pair. In the photograph below left , Tree 1 is the branchy tree on the left and tree 2 is the fine conical one on the right.
Each are about 35-40 metres tall. Tree No. 1 - 7.11metres girth. Tree No. 2 - 7.71metres girth."

Tree No. 3 - Coast Redwood - February 2021

Tree No. 3 - Coast Redwood - February 2021
Tree No. 3: "The massive Coast redwood is I think one of the largest in the country with a girth of a bit less than 7.11 metres.
You can see the typical suckering of Coast redwood at the base. The tree has a height of 43 metres."

Tree No. 4 - Giant Redwood - February 2021

Tree No. 5 - Giant Redwood - February 2021
Tree No. 4: "As you walk deeper into the gardens you soon come across this beauty with a 6.93 metres girth and has a height of around 40-45 metres."
Tree No. 5: "The fourth Giant sequoia is a very fine tree along the Woodland Walk.
As it was on a very steep slope I couldn’t measure the girth but it is about 6 metres and its height is around 40 metres.
"

Aidan also found "A young Dawn redwood, there are probably more but unfortunately I rather overlooked them – something to look for on my next visit."

Grand Fir - February 2021
"Not a redwood but just as impressive is this 5.39m girth Grand fir.
With a height of 48m it is one of the largest of its species in the south east and a Surrey county champion.
"

I'm always happy to include the odd non-redwood tree, especially when it is a champion! Thank you for letting us know about another great Redwood location.
