This Giant Redwood graces the front garden of a 16th century house in Wickham Bishops. An interesting aspect of this tree is that it illustrates the manner in which Wellingtonia will allow their lower branches to die and shed when they are crowded by other trees.

The owner expressed concern that this might be a sign of disease in the tree, but was of course pleased to be assured that it is in fine health. Unfortunately, the branches will not re-grow once the surrounding trees have been trimmed, but this is not all bad news, for it does allow the lovely trunk to be seen more clearly!
