![]() Giant Redwood - July 2022 |
Thanks to Bob who wrote; "I came across four trees in my local park Fishponds Surbiton Hill / Tolworth on the North Eastern side, near some garages and flats off the Ewell Road. They're not that big a set of specimens compared to others listed but they're local to me. They are behind Kingfisher Court / Brunswick Lodge and the entrance is off Brown's Road opposite Alpha Road." Thank you Bob, they may not be as big as many others, but four Redwood are four more on the list! If they are all in this crowded area, it's possible, that they are thinner than others because they are competing for the light and racing upwards instead of putting on very much girth. I have seen this with my own plantings when they are in crowded areas. They will win the race eventually and when they are well above the surrounding canopy I expect they will also start putting on girth. |
