![]() Giant Redwood - August 2020 |
Thanks to Christine who wrote to say "We stayed in Strathpeffer in August, 2020. We looked at the five Redwood trees you have listed on your very useful Website (thanks). We were staying in the Ben Wyvis Hotel, and just as we were driving up to the entrance - there was another one! The hotel was opened in 1880, when most of Strathpeffer was built. It is a Victorian Spa Village. Very beautiful and interesting. All the Red Wood trees are of the same age (at a guess, I am not an expert!) so they must have planned the tree planting. I often wish, when admiring all these trees that the planner, and planter could see them now. Also what will they be like in another 150 years." Thank you for letting me know about another five Redwoods in Strathpeffer and I'm pleased the website was useful. Yes, I guess the planners and planters of these trees enjoyed watching them grow from tiny sapling to large trees but would not have easily been able to imagine how they look now. I feel a similar way about the ones we plant out, and in another 150 years hopefully our great great granchildren will be able to admire them too. |
