I was telling him about the biggest trees in the world and showed him some pictures online, when we stumbled across your site. Inspired, we decided to go on a redwood hunt of our own. This led us to a tree which doesn't appear to be listed on your site. It's a Giant Redwood located in a private garden on Rookery Lane, Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire. I don't know much about it, other than it is mentioned in some local planning documents as a protected tree (which is how we found it). The grid reference according to Google Maps is 52°08'35.9"N 0°54'43.7"W. "
Thanks for the photographs Paul and the grid reference is really useful. I'm glad you and your son have enjoyed searching for Redwood trees and well done on finding one! I hope you will both carry on Redwood hunting. I find a drive through the countryside with an eye on the horizon often yields results. Also I have noticed that when you find one Redwood in a location there will often be another one or two nearby as the Victorians seemed to like planting several at once. Good luck! |
