Tam also wrote to say that he "passed by the Central Scotland Police, Police Headquarters Randolphfield, I see it is on the website now, wow! Somebody beat me to it. Good for them. I took some rudimentary measurements and it is 5.48m in girth at 5' from ground level. It is a magnificent tree."

It was sad to hear Peggy report that the splendid Wellingtonia on this page "had been cut down (due to apparent holes beneath the tree). Seems to me that if an agency wants to have a tree cut down, they will come up with one reason or other to make it happen." You are correct Peggy, when people with money or influence are set on destroying a tree it is almost impossible to stop them even with T.P.O's in place. I have heard about this happening too many times. Thanks to David for the photograph.
