As you travel along the A132 from the Rettendon Turnpike roundabouts and head toward Wickford, look to the right just after you pass the pub and you will see the top two thirds of this lovely Giant Redwood towering upwards. This beautiful example, with its well-rounded form sits in an uncrowded area of ground somewhat lower than the road, and is in a field adjacent to the pub car park. It is worth stopping and wading through the long grass to see, particularly on a fine summer evening when the low sun gives an ethereal glow to the tree's branches, as in the picture above. |
