Nottingham - Clifton Wood (Nottinghamshire)
|Thanks to Ian for the above photograph, taken in March this year, showing one of two Giant Redwood in Clifton Wood.
Ian says, "The woods used to form part of the grounds of Clifton Hall. I believe that the trees were planted in 1830."
The Redwoods may have originally be planted as specimen trees at Clifton Hall but 1830 is a little early as they were not introduced into the U.K. until the early 1850's, but perhaps they were put in as part of landscaping work that began at that time.
