Thanks to Martin for sending these photographs of an avenue of Giant Redwoods. Martin says, "Whilst lost in Warwickshire, searching for National Motorcycle Museum, I came across an avenue of Wellingtonia. They are in front of a Tudor Mansion called Diddington Hall which is on the A452 about 1 mile south of the junction with A45. The nearest of the trees in the photo above is actually in the grass central reservation of the A452, the car in the photograph is actually travelling, so perhaps before the road became a dual carriageway there were more trees in this group.
The caretaker showed me an old black and white photograph of the mansion front when the trees were really small. I photographed the photo with my mobile 'phone."
I see what you mean about the road going through the avenue. I like the photograph of the young Giants, it's always good to have a record of how the trees and their surroundings looked many years ago. |
