Marlborough - Savernake Forest (Wiltshire)
|Thanks to Cathryn who emailed in January 2019 "to report an accidental discovery of redwood heaven in Savernake Forest, near Marlborough. Out running with my husband, we stumbled on an arboretum which we'd heard rumours of. It contains many gorgeous pine-y trees including some beautiful sequoias and my beloved coastal redwoods, which are hard to find in the UK!
To find it, head out of Marlborough on the A346 to Cadley. Just after the church turn left on Great Lodge Drive, follow it round the bend and straight on until you hit Grand Avenue (the first left). The arboretum is in the angle between Great Lodge Drive and Grand Avenue, it shows on google maps as a dark green triangle to the north of a meadow. You can access it by trails from both roads too.
It was a Very Good Run! "
