This short and squat Giant Redwood at The Manor House shows that even if these trees suffer a catastrophic loss of the top half (as it would appear from the picture), it can still be a lush and fullsome tree and can also recover, continuing upward over the years. Although the prevailing conditions meant the quality of this photograph is a little limited, one can plainly see the change of trunk width about two-thirds of the way up the existing height. I suspect it is from this point that new growth has begun. |
