Kendal - Levens Hall (Cumbria)

Thanks to David for this location in Cumbria. He said; "As I was admiring the tree and taking photographs, I paused by a fairly new looking wooden sapling protector. Upon closer inspection I made possibly an even more remarkable discovery! A newly planted and still tagged redwood!" Well spotted! It's really heartening to see new specimens being planted, it shows people are thinking about future generations while they enjoy the legacy left by previous generations. The sapling looks quite straggly and brown at the moment but in my experience these trees often suffer during the first year or two with the summer dryness and the winter frosts, both of which have been particularly harsh this past year (2017-2018). I look forward to receiving any updates over subsequent years if other Redwood enthusiasts visit Levens Hall.
