Thanks to Fiona who sent the above photograph from Simon, who wrote; "From 1956 to 1974 my family lived at The Gows, Invergowrie - now part of Prospect Park and the Technology Park. At what was the top of the drive to the house stood a Sequoia (as children we knew it as the punchbag tree due to the soft bark of the tree). As the house dated from around 1850, it may have been one of Patrick Matthew's trees. I do not know if the tree survived the conversion of The Gows to Propect Business centre. Looking on Google street view there appears to be a tree that may be the one." |
