Ledger Stone - Barbele Jans 1525 in Dutch
It is otherwise a fairly unremarkable church, although inside on the floor of the main aisle are several 16th and 17th century ledger stones.
One in particular is made of Purbeck marble, inscribed in Dutch, it relates to Barbele Jans who died on the second day in December 1525.
She was the wife of Pier Piers (Peter Peterson) the dyke-reeve, a Dutch immigrant and creator of some of the dykes surrounding the village.
