Richard sent the above photograph of Giant Redwoods at Wallsworth Hall. Richard says "Wallsworth Hall is an art gallery a couple of miles north of Gloucester with interior and exterior exhibits.

I hope these really are redwoods - I'm no expert. Are there any trees which look similar to redwoods but are a different species? Or are they obvious?
"

Thank you for the photographs Richard, yes they are all Giant Redwoods! One tree that has fooled me once or twice is the Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), its needles are quite similar but the bark is not as soft as a Giant Redwood, and the cones are much smaller (more like the size of the Coast Redwood). Other than that, overall the Giant Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum) is a very distinctive tree and easily recognised after you have seen one of them.
