Giant Redwoods - May 2007 |
Thanks Tam for another great find. Tam says "Today on the way home from Rouken Glen park we passed Eastwood Toll (East Renfrewshire) roundabout at which my eyes were drawn to some huge redwoods (bad idea if one is driving at the time). After dropping the family off home I made my way back and proceeded on foot to investigate the area. After an abortive attempt to reach the redwoods through the back of East Renfrewshire council grounds I changed tactics and went back by the pavement onto Fenwick Rd reaching the main gate for Eastwoodhill Eventide Home. I approached the front door and asked for permission to take some photos' of their magnificent garden. Wow... There are eight magnificent Sequoias here." |
I'm glad you asked for permission to take the photographs, it is always a good idea and most of the time people are very happy to also supply any information about the trees if they have it. |
Sally, who is a former Manager at Eastwoodhill, wrote in November 2012. "These trees were planted by the family who built the house in the 1800's The grandson has built an arboretum in New Zealand called Eastwoodhill" Thanks Sally, it's good to have some history about these trees. I enjoyed viewing the Eastwoodhill website, and was pleased to see one of the stars in the park is a Coast Redwood which measured "just over 39m tall in August 2002". |
