Thanks to Peggy for sending this photograph taken by her friend, "Snaik, who found four large Sequoiadendron giganteum in Forfar, Angus. It looks like these are all on former estate grounds. There are two Sequoiadendron giganteum to the left and right of the main drive into the Benholm Care Home, a mansion House now in use as a Nursing Home. It is first shown on the 2nd edition OS map of 1903 and was altered and extended in 1912. 56.639664, -2.904353. The other two Sequoiadendron giganteum are behind the 'boundry' wall of Annfield House across from the Forfar Botanists Garden and directly east of the old Annfield jute and linen works site (now flats). Between the garden walls of Annfield House and the West House the 'Myrie Close' is an interesting narrow angled footway, cobbled with flags in the middle. 56.644921, -2.891314" |
