Exeter - Heavitree Road (Devon)

Thanks to Jim for sending the above photograph of a fabulous looking Dawn Redwood in Exeter, outside Waitrose on Heavitree Road.

He also sent this close up of its foliage which shows really clearly the characteristic most easily identifies the tree as being a Dawn Redwood; that is the leaf pairs being set opposite each other along the stem. Most other pines of this type have the leaves alternately spaced along the stem.
