Tam has been to Stirlingshire and saw these Giant Redwoods at Doune castle. He says "On visiting Doune Castle (the site of filming Monty Python's Holy Grail movie) near Stirling today I was overawed to find some absolutely Giant Sequoias. The only trouble was they were on the other side of the river from where I was standing. The castle has extensive grounds to the south and nice woodland walks. The redwoods are over the river in the grounds of Blair Drummond Safari Park, I will be going there to see them from that side some time. There are at least ten of them and they are huge as they have taken on that long narrow appearance to the tops of some of them, one at least I could make out has been struck severely by lightning some time ago and yet has continued growing up beyond the point of damage. No doubt the proximity to the river has helped them all to grow well."

Doune castle seems a nice place to visit, thanks again Tam for returning with another great shrubbery! (Ok, so I am old enough to remember the Python sketches...)
