In the grounds of the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, along the High Street in Dedham, you will find this lovely Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides). Though not as massive and majestic as the Giant Redwood, the Dawn Redwood is an elegant and pleasing tree to the eye - and this one is certainly a marvellous example of it kind.

The Dawn Redwood is unusual for a conifer, in that it loses its leaves in the Winter - they turn a superb orange colour in the autumn prior to falling.
