Culloden - Culloden Country House (Inverness-shire)

Giant Redwood - September 2009

Thanks to David for giving details of Redwoods at Culloden Country House. David wrote; "While on vacation a couple of weeks ago we saw two large trees, one with diameter at breast height near 2 meters, at the Culloden Country House Hotel. The hotel is currently doing an inventory of their trees, and told us there were redwoods about 200 years old. I don't know if they were Giant or Coastal" They are a little ambitious about the age of their trees, (the one in the photograph is a Giant Redwood), since they were only discovered and brought over in the 1850's, but we can forgive them this simple error as the great stature of these trees does give the appearance of a far greater age.
