Giant Redwood - July 2019
Thanks to Peter who wrote to say "in Clitheroe Lancashire thereís a triangle of green just entering the town centre which has a bus stop on it with roads along each side, just in front of Sainsburyís. A number of years ago, the council (I assume) planted a pine on it which is growing well, and then a couple of years ago a new conifer appeared which I suspected might be a young Wellingtonia. It didnít do anything growth wise until this year and Iíve just noticed it beginning to stretch upwards I believe."

It's great to see more young Wellingtonia being planted by councils and this one certainly does look like it's starting to reach for the sky with that prominent leader!

Giant Redwood - May 2024
It was great to have an update on this young Wellingtonia in Clitheroe. Thanks to Dave for this photograph taken in May 2024 which makes it clear that the tree has grown well in the last five years.

Dave provided this caption; "Dave and an increasingly giant tree, alas Dave will never grow any taller!"
