Coast Redwood - March 2024

Coast Redwood - March 2024
Julian wrote to say; "I'm from Norwich and have used your site to go and look at several of the trees listed. Earlier this week I was visiting Cawston Park near Aylsham. It's not open to the public but there is a public footpath that goes through it. I came across an avenue of trees that look like redwoods. They were still green so I don't think they were Dawn Redwoods. However several of the trees had several trunks to them as opposed to a single one, so I'm not sure that they are redwood trees."

Yes, they are Redwoods of the type called Sequoia sempervirens, or Coast Redwood. They often sprout new shoots from their base so I'm not surprised you found some with several trunks. I've not found many avenues of Coast Redwood so thank you for letting me know about them.
