Thanks to Raul for the above photographs of a Sequoia sempervirens in Bristol. It is the first Redwood to be added to Redwood World in this county. Raul says "It's located in St George Park by the lake. There's a 10 meters tall Fraxinus excelsior just next to the Sequoia. Our dear tree sizes about 8 meters tall and it seems to be in perfect health."
Raul wrote a little later to say "I've taken the measurements of the Sequoia sempervirens following the instructions on your website: girth: 154cm height: 14.4m. To measure the height I've used the method of taking a picture of myself standing by the trunk.

Raul made an interesting point regarding the planting of non-native trees, that some people would perhaps prefer a barren field than a non-native tree and that seems a little hard to understand! Raul also says another reason to add to the list in support of these trees is that "Sequoias are one of the few remaining links between the environment where dinosaurs lived and the environment we have now. Because their natural ranges are very small, it's our responsibility the keep the link alive. And planting trees is the best way to do it."
