Raul wrote a little later to say "I've taken the measurements of the Sequoia sempervirens following the instructions on your website: girth: 154cm height: 14.4m. To measure the height I've used the method of taking a picture of myself standing by the trunk.
Raul made an interesting point regarding the planting of non-native trees, that some people would perhaps prefer a barren field than a non-native tree and that seems a little hard to understand! Raul also says another reason to add to the list in support of these trees is that "Sequoias are one of the few remaining links between the environment where dinosaurs lived and the environment we have now. Because their natural ranges are very small, it's our responsibility the keep the link alive. And planting trees is the best way to do it." |
