Giant Redwood - March 2017

Giant Redwood - March 2017
Neil sent the above photographs and said, "I was staying in Bagshot last week with my brother in the Premier Inn on London Road, and we went for a walk along London Road and saw what I think is a Redwood - but I can't be sure! I'm doubtful because I can't seem to find it on your website, which makes me think it's not a Redwood. If it's not a Redwood, any idea what it is?"

Thank you for letting us know about this tree in Bagshot and for the fabulous pictures, what a lovely sunny day, the tree and the sun were in just the right place. It is a Giant Redwood by the way, also known as Wellingtonia, Latin name: Sequoiadendron giganteum.

"That's great! Strange that no one has reported it to you before - that's why I doubted it was a Redwood! I'm absolutely delighted though that it is a Giant Redwood and I'm totally fascinated by them now! My ambition now is to try and cultivate and grow one - but it doesn't sound that easy. My other tree 'passion' is the Weeping Willow - I'm an avid Weeping Willow spotter wherever I go! Now I'm also a Redwood spotter - they're stunning trees!
