Thanks to Graham for this photograph. He wrote; "These are in Avoch, on the Black Isle just North of Inverness. I believe are 4 definite sequoias on Rosehaugh Estate, which boasted a huge Manor House built in the 1860's. I believe there are others, which can be seen due to their sheer size towering over the rest of the trees in the small forest. The house was demolished in the 1950's. However, the grounds still exist, and I believe the Sequoias date from pre 1900." Graham also mentioned that he has "2 Coastal redwood trees in my garden (One 6 years, and 1 cutting at 1 year), and also a Sequoia which I just planted this year. I love the Redwoods, ever since visiting Redwood and Sequoia National Parks in the US around 20 years ago. I was pretty dombfounded to come across your site and find out just how many there are in this country!" |
